On replacing the kicks

I mentioned in a previous post that my sneakers have a beautiful rip on the side which while not unusual with canvas sneakers, is not exactly fun in the rain. Now that I think of it, I should just get galoshes for the rain. But I get caught in the rain a lot without prior knowledge so I don't know. Regardless, it's time to replace my sneakers. I'm a little annoyed because they barely lasted six months. This pair in specific was a bad purchase.

Here are some of the sneakers I was considering.

Adidas Originals Honey Hi
The practical option. They have these in a bunch of colors, it also becomes a high top. I don't actually want- well no that's a lie. I love white sneakers. But my sneakers usually go on huge 5 mile treks around the city and plus I have a tendency of getting rained on. So white is not practical for this sneaker purchase. I'm trying to replace my everyday sneakers. White sneakers are good for once a week or once every two weeks. So the blue or black is probably what I'll end up with if I get these. Plus the price is in the $40-$50 range.

I posted about these before. This is my number one choice. But I can imagine the conversation with my mom already. She's not going to understand why I need to spend $75 on a pair of sneakers considering the number of sneakers that have fallen apart in my possession in the past few years. Of course I'll point out that those were canvas and then she'll try counter that if I'm going to drop that much on a pair of sneakers I have to throw out at least three other shoes. At that point I may or may (probably) not explain that they're not extra since I wear all of them and that other people have 200 pairs of shoes whereas I have under ten. I'm working on it. When my brother spends $80 (which in my book is practically cheap for men's shoes) on his sneakers my mom usually throws out his old ones, but he doesn't usually mind. I mind. These are only $75 on sale, otherwise they'd be around $140. So $75 isn't bad.

Found these at Karmaloop. They kind of remind me of the Nike Greco sneakers I saw at DSW once (and never saw ever again! those specific ones had this little cartoon dog on the tongue). Naturally I was first drawn to the white ones. But I like the colors on these. They're $65 at Karmaloop, I haven't checked around anywhere else yet.

Of course as my brother puts it, when it comes to which sneakers to buy, the ideas are limitless. We both like sneakers so of course it's not which ones we want but which ones we should actually put down the cash for. Those three I'm actually considering. Now if we're talking about just sneakers in general here are a few I found interesting.

Um... I sort of like these. They remind me of the boardwalk. And Williamsburg (though I'm not sure if that's a good thing). They're so... casual. I love it. It may sound stupid but I get a nice feel from them. But I'm a starving artist so me saying stuff like that isn't unusual.

The canvas sneakers... I can't stay away. I promise though that the design was what drew me in. It's always nice though that they're Chucks :D

I'm actually looking for silver shoes for a wedding. Of course these are not the ones I'm supposed to be looking for.
