Wardrobe Essentials: The White V-Neck (or Plain White Tee)

(Album photo)
(Me2day/Kstyle)
(CocoPerez) (Also, I do not endorse the wearing of tights as pants)

(Fashionising, maybe)
For some reason I don't have too many of guys. Which is odd considering how many adhere (knowingly or unknowingly) to the idea that this is an essential.

While I consider the v-neck version an essential, crew-necks or other plain white tees that fit you nicely are in the same category. Usually, this staple has a relaxed, casual fit and the sleeves are usually short-sleeve and can be rolled up or folded over.

The great thing about them is that you can look like you meant everything you wore when really you were just being lazy. I wore one of these three days in a row last week. But with the right bottoms and accessories, a lazy day doesn't have to look lazy. Be careful though because it's not foolproof. This staple gives your outfit like +500 casual points. So if you're being lazy at formal events (which I don't suggest), you might want to go the route taken in the first pic. But really? Just try to avoid it lol. Semi-formal is one thing, magazine launch parties? Please don't.

Because I don't actually need to tell anyone where to get themself a plain white tee, this post is going to be geared more towards what you can pair them with.

How to wear them: Paired with bottoms that pop.
Examples:

Ripped Skinny Trousers - $59.90

Red Spray On Skinny Jeans - $60
Colored Jeans are a lazy way to make a lazy day outfit pop. Even if you can't find that perfect pair of ripped jeans (true story) or that insane wash of jeans that you meant to save for that purpose, colored jeans are pretty easy to find and will do the job for you in a pinch. On the other hand, the plain white tee can tone down the outrageousness of your favorite color (sometimes we must admit to these things). The two paired together give off a casual yet fun look. Everyone remembers the guy or girl who wore teal pants. Well I do anyway, hard to miss. My favorite are my powder blue Uniqlo legging pants. Though now that I think of it, where did my red Wesc Jeans go? :O

OMG Major Tangent! Skip down for the real stuff. I had a whole row of jeans in the back of my closet that I've been neglecting! Oh man, I'm totally wearing my Wesc Jeans tomorrow with... you guessed it, a white v-neck :)

G-Star V Back Skinny Jean - $95.16

Levi's 511 Skinny Jeans - $44
Black skinnies. These will probably be the subject of next week's post but they can dress/play up a plain white tee perfectly. Though I got mine (all three pairs :O) for less than 20 bux so the first link you should probably not use. But this is not the post for that :) I hate using terms like this but these jeans paired with a plain white tee can give a more grungy/rock (ugh) look.

Bronze Cotton Skinny Chinos - $60
The reason why there isn't a pair for women is because the hunt is still on. But on that note, don't go to Williamsburg wearing these. Or like don't walk into an Urban Outfitters. I'm kidding, go forth and be awesome, lol. I'm not going to explain what this plus a plain white tee does.

Moto Black Betsy Hotpant - $36
Of course Topshop sells these. Usually I'm not on board with stuff that's high-waisted but the right shorts paired with or with a plain white tee tucked in are a quick, cute lazy day outfit.

H&M Skirt - £14.99
The Base Skirt - $34.65
This pairing also brings more attention to your adorable skirt. Sometimes you have these really cute skirts/shorts that you are super fond of but they get lost in your outfit. That's where the PWT enters, ha ha ha.

Layer them under shirts and sweaters
Examples:

Lapel Knit Cardigan - $12.99
Cardigan's are attention-whores. So you can use that to your advantage on days when you're super lazy and just wear them over PWT's. The shirt you were planning on wearing under there would probably lose the attention battle with your cardigan anyway so why not be lazy. You can use that energy to do the 8 million other things you do all day which is why you're lazy in the mornings in the first place.

AE Favorite Shirt - $29.99
I totally get why this is called the favorite shirt. I've been meaning to get this one for a while. But you can throw these over your tee, push the sleeves up, leave them unbuttoned and you're good to go.

Pair them with your more unique or dressy shoes
Examples:

Converse All Star Slim - $65
I remember when Converse first got popular back... in 2004? Maybe earlier. But it was love at first sight for me and we're still going strong ;). But the reason why they're popular is because they almost always work. Here is no different.

Exposed-zip Lace Up Boot - $50
Nothing like a pair of boots to perk up a lazy day outfit. I know I keep saying that even though a lot of times I and I'm sure a lot of other people actually choose to wear their plain white tees. But still I'm trying to stress how easy and useful this can be in your wardrobe. Mostly with shoes the PWT can focus attention on those awesome shoes :)

Aldo Donnino - $110
Man boots. Ha ha, it always cracks me up when I see something like this labeled as a boot. But hey now we have ankle booties so it's all fair. I think every man (and woman, now that I think about it. Though ours are a little different) should have a pair of these. These shoes can be the difference between you and that other guy wearing a v-neck.

Accessorize!
Examples:
Diamond Shape Earrings - $1.50
No delicate earrings here. Go for bold and bad ;)

ASOS Double Finger Ring With Mother Of Pearl Insert - $20.95

ASOS Screw Top Ring - $10.48
My brother was telling me that guys apparently only wear rings on one hand but I don't remember which hand he said. It's okay, be a rebel.
ASOS Super Pyramid Stud Ring - $13.97
Try not to get into a fight with this ring on. And if you do, have the decency to take the ring off first. I'm kidding, violence is not the answer.

ASOS Book Pendant Neckchain - $13.97
Long necklaces look awesome with a plain white tee especially since they don't have to compete with loud screenprints and the like.

ASOS Five Strap Body-Conscious Belt - $26.19
A thick belt can be used to play with proportions but be careful. I've seen this done wrong a bit too often. You want to make it look like your shirt is a little cropped or your jeans are a little high-waisted. You do not want to look like you have the world's longest rear-end. I'm sorry, I could not think of another way to say it :/

Adidas Men's ADH4027 Red Peachtree Digital Watch - $50
A bright digital watch is a pretty easy way to add character to your outfit. Plus, you'll know what time it is when your phone dies.

Orlando Magic (NIKE FOAMPOSITE PEWTERS and DUNCAN) NBA New Era Hat - $35
I always wonder whether you need to actually support the team or just like the hat? You know, it's your money, who cares.

Wardrobe Essentials: Long(ish) Sleeve Bodycon Dress

UPDATE: I started this post a million years ago (literally. ok, i'm kidding obviously) but blogger wouldn't let me upload my pictures and I was tired so I kept putting it off and blogger still wouldn't let me upload the pictures -_- and here we are today. It's actually my dumb browser. I have to close the browser then open it again login again and then it let's me post -_- I am going to say that while I'm going to try for once a week, I may not post often. If you harass me in the comments I really will keep to my schedule though lol. Harassment works. Ahem, not that kind though -_-

So since I've discovered the joys of shopping from a list (I'm a neat freak, ignore me), I've established a list of my own wardrobe essentials. Some of these might differ from the typical cause obviously everyone has their own style, me included ;).

First Up: ...
The Long-Sleeve Bodycon Dress
Long sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, elbow length are all good but long sleeve is good because you can always push the sleeves up. This is an essential because, like most staples, it's incredibly versatile. It can be worn alone like in the picture above (from Yesstyle.com) and accessorized or it can be layered under vests, cardigans, and button-downs like this:

This is actually my favorite look using this dress. Dara, I think, also throws a belt over the vest in this dress. Very sleek and very pretty.

It can also be worn alone simply paired with a pair of pumps and... hair. Lol, I'm kidding. Well not really, hair is totally an accessory ;) This one is from ASOS and it's in a silkier material while the staple version will likely be jersey. But the silkier version, especially in this bright blue, is more dressy and a very easy (and lazy) solution to more formal occasions.

She is totally wearing a dress under that skirt and vest. I know because I asked her. I'm kidding. Obviously. This dress can also work as a top. A lot of people will ask, why not just wear a normal long sleeve top. Well, using a dress for that purpose gives a smoother profile, less shirt tucking and riding up. It's a form-fitting dress. It also can sort of act as a safety... skirt if you don't want to flash anyone. If you do, then you must not live in NYC. I'm kidding (maybe). Lol.

Where to get one (or 5! One in all your favorite colors hehe):
For cheap! We're in a recession, my loves. Well even if we weren't, cheap means you can buy more stuff ;) I don't like sacrificing quality either so I'm a total shopping brat. Hence, why it's a sport for me. Finding cheap stuff that won't die on you immediately is work.

Dress - $14.95 (in stores in the U.S.)/£9.99 online in the UK
It looks pretty funny doesn't it? Haha, but it's a basic dress, it's supposed to be funny looking when you're not wearing it. But I have this and it performs all the wonders that a basic dress should. Well I suppose I'm the one performing the wonders since I decide what to do with it but whatever. The material is nice and the dress is incredibly comfortable. I've worn it plain and also with a skirt for my birthday (which was a blast, btw, I'm legal! :) I recommend

ASOS Body-Conscious Dress with Scoop Neck - $36.59
If you hate long-sleeves with a passion (or no passion or hate at all haha) you can opt for something like this. Elbow-length sleeves are actually one of my favorites as far as sleeves are concerned. My number 1 is of course, none ;) Work those toned arms. Or whichever you have, I don't know what it is with me and arms. But elbow-length sleeves work very well under vests and other forms of layering.

Mossimo Supply Co. Juniors Short Sleeve T-Shirt Dress - $18
...And a short-sleeve version. This looks incredibly cute, I'm about to head over to Target (my love) and check it out.

Ruched Tunic - $24.50 or 2/$40
That's a steal, btw, if you haven't noticed. Well, I guess it is, 20 bux a dress, not bad. They have this in other colors of course. I have the elbow length tunic from victoria's secret but I like their stuff so I would go for one of these. I might actually do that since I'm used to their clothes. It's ruched which is cool because if you're... petite, you can pull the dress up to where it would fall if you were 6'11" or whoever they make these clothes for, and it'll look normal and cute.

Until next time :)

Hair: Current Youtube Video Obsession, Haircut Story, and latest Inspiration Pics

So, I've been putting off important things like workout, sleep, study, etc. Workout is happening. Sleep, somewhat... except for today! Or tonight, whatever. Study? Don't talk to me about that or I'll drown in a puddle of my ambitions (NEED TO HIT UP THE LIBRARY)

But yes, I'm supposed to be sleeping but instead I'm watching hair videos on Youtube and blogging o_O. So in an earlier post I had said I'd post current Youtube video obsessions from time to time.

So here we are... (Also, scroll all the way to the bottom if you'd like to skip the long hair ramble and go straight to the inspiration pics)

Actually this one has been my obsession for some time now but I actually did it quasi properly today and let me tell you, it was awesome. It was so cute it made my really strange haircut look lovely. I definitely recommend. If you have short hair or are a guy... grab a victim. That's what I do when I can't try something on myself. It's great to have sisters...

Right, I called my haircut strange. You know, my haircut is great (I talk about this latest one way too often and the verdict is always different. You can ask Le Royal Best Friend.) except for one random section, well two since my head has two sides obviously, but yeah two sections on the side. They're the layers that don't really show since they lie under the crown hair. So imagine this, you have a perfect haircut... except two random bits of hair. This may not bother a lot of people (who cares, it doesn't show, etc.) but it bothers me. I'm a perfectionist and a neat freak and I still haven't forgiven myself for screwing up that section.

Here's how it happened. It's late, I'm a night owl so it's normal for me, but I'm in the bathroom cutting my hair, no wait, I was trimming it. Aha and a trim is what it'd be if I wasn't rudely interrupted. And then as I reach this magical section, someone tries the bathroom door. And of course I'm annoyed because one of the reasons I'm a night owl is because in the night most people sleep and I can have peace and relax and not be bothered by people who want to tell me to do stuff and have objections with me doing my own thing and not joining them in the circle of life or whatever other stupid philosophy of life they're running on (I love the Lion King). So I get annoyed and mind you we have two bathrooms but still I vacate the bathroom with my hair half cut since someone clearly has a preference for the one I'm in. I pace around my room irritably and debate just going to sleep.

Eventually, (I think, details are fuzzy now) I head back to the bathroom and even out what I've done so far. The next day I finish the cut. Oh I also did bangs for the first time. Those came out wonderful though I find hair in face terribly irritating. But at some point in all this fun, I am seriously distracted and cut STRAIGHT ACROSS instead of diagonal. Mind you, I was layering my hair. And I've done this before so I know I can do it. The thing is, when I get var thumbnail_mode = "float" ;absorbed in something and then I get interrupted, I get thrown way out of wack and end up with things like my current haircut. So I managed to fix everything except the random different size section cause obviously I have to wait for it to grow. Trust me, it's infuriatingly frustrating.

This is obviously ironic since, as I mentioned in a previous post, I've had super long hair like always. Haircuts, like actual haircuts, have entered my life during this past year. And it was always long without me even trying. Or maybe it was because I didn't get cuts past... hm... some grade in elementary probably. When it got gross my mom would chop off and inch or maybe two as it got longer sometimes more. And to me it felt like it grew back like instantly. And now that I want it to grow, her highness mane is taking her sweet time. Not really, I think I'm still getting an inch a month which is a lot.

But anyway, I am now about to share some hair horrors with you. Which is why this blog is fairly anonymous, mind you, for moments like these. I'm kidding, but anyhow, there is maybe one, or two actually people who know me who know of this blog and to them I ask... to not read this post? I'm kidding, just don't decide you don't love me anymore <3

So... back when I had hair of dangerous lengths; longest length was I believe up to my waist? Maybe longer? Can't find that picture of it in it's finest state of neglect. But yes, those were days of true hair neglect. What I now consider neglect is just laughable compared to what I used to do (I deep condition once a week and wash/condition twice). It wasn't because I was trying to do anything specific with my hair. It was because I didn't like my hair and I thought it was too long (no, cutting it was not an option, trust me on this one) and I didn't know what to do with it and I didn't like how it looked on me. So I ignored it. My best friend can attest to this as well, I told her once or twice in high school that I didn't comb my hair until things got crazy. And if they were only a little crazy I'd just shampoo it and a lot of the major tangles would go away. I would just put it in a ponytail or a long braid or something and go. My shampoo schedule was based on when my hair needed it. The shampoo I used to use used to dry out my hair so I could go a while between washes. That is so not the case now... Conditioner? I didn't use it. At all. Instead I used crappy Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and who knows what other crap infused shampoo because I simply didn't care and that's what moms bought and put in the bathroom. I found my hair frustrating to the point where when I tried to do something with it and if it was more complicated than a half up half down then I'd actually lose my patience and give up. I wear a lot of ponytails now too but then I used to wear them because I didn't know what else to do.

Crap. I forgot to do my face mask. That has nothing to do with this post though, obviously.

But yeah so I was watching videos about growing hair tips and what not and I can't help but laugh at some of the tips. Not because I think they don't work but because clearly my hair grew just fine and fairly quickly without this stuff. Getting trims every six to eight weeks? Try once a year. Getting 8 hours of sleep? I've been in school for most of my life so far, fat chance. Even in high school when I didn't study I didn't get enough sleep. And I ate all kinds of random stuff so yeah so much for healthy food. Though dark greens, dairy, eggs, wheat, that stuff has always been in my diet so maybe that helped. The dairy in particular I have a lot of. Maybe it was genetics, maybe it was luck. Maybe it grew out of the sheer power of how badly I didn't want it to.

Anyway, now my hair is three inches away from hair victory (BSL) and six inches away from me growing out my layers and going for a blunt cut (it's nice to start from scratch).

And now... the latest in my hair inspiration folder. I apologize but I don't remember where all the pics are from so if they're from your site, let me know, and I apologize.

(Pic from Allkpop, i think)
The blonde looks good on Luna but what I like about her hair here is how her hair is parted to an extreme side of her face and her hair on that side is voluminous with a beach wave kind of texture. It may or may not be braided loosely in the back or maybe just in a lose ponytail.

(Pic from ASOS)
I've always liked having the hair that frames the face curled. I think it gives you a very elegant look. And side parts I find are usually flattering.

(Possibly from DailyMakeover, maybe from somewhere else?)
I'm a sucker for curls. I love curly hair and curly styles. Big curls like these are so (for lack of a better term) romantic and pretty. I also like how voluminous her hair is especially in the crown area and the fact that it is multi-toned. Stunning.

(Pic from Karmaloop)
This is an incredibly cute look and though it is common to do it with long hair, it has a whole different look when done on short hair. On long hair it would be maybe a little dressy or bold but on short hair it's playful. I've done this before with my shorter layers pulling my longer layers away and it's very cute.

(Pic from Me2day or Allkpop, not sure exactly)
There might be a lot of Dara pics since I like her style and in particular her hairstyles. This is a very cute cut, thinned out from the bottom with big heavy side swept bangs.

(I honestly don't remember, sorry! :()
Well that was quick. As much as I find bangs annoying, they look very cute. And for a person like me who is unable to get away from ponytails, they work. Like in this pic, they can make an updo very pretty. Of course if you have no forehead like me, your face may disappear. But that'll have to be a wager you'll have to make, won't it? Face? or hair...

(Pic from Allkpop)
I haven't forgotten about you, boys. Well I have, this is just a consolation prize. I'm kidding. But yes there hasn't been a dude related post in a while. I should get on that. Bangs I feel are very important to a guy's haircut. If you don't want to grow it long you can just play around with your bangs. Some slick it up or do a brohawk (that's the one that frat boys do, haha, I'm kidding... sort of ;). Hyungshik's are at an angle and jagged and seem to be coming from further back on his crown than usual. And it does look like either his hair back there is shorter or they slicked it up.

(Pic from Tumblr or somewhere)
Nowadays people are more into super straight and sleek and blah blah hair but I still love BIG HAIR :D. I swear they need to make a remake of Hairspray called Big Hair and make it about big hair. And dancing. Two of my favorite things, heheh. I was a little kid in the 90's so theoretically I've experienced more of the 90's in the 00's than I have in the 90's but I think they were a fun time. Though I feel hair like this is timeless, not a 90's thing but whenever I see big hair I have to go into my 90's big hair rant :).

(Pic from HellzBellz Blog)
His hair looks like soft serve ice cream. Now I'm remembering Sylvia from the Nanny asking Aunt Freida, "How do you achieve that height?" Kurt's hair is kind of like this though he has more gentlemanly waves in them haha. And his hair doesn't look edible. He does. I'm kidding, heheh.

(Pic from Lulu's... or was it ASOS?)
If this is the real hair color and not photoediting it's pretty awesome.  I also like those big curls. I also like how lately people leave their roots instead of dying them. Of course it depends but a lot of times it's very cute.

(Pic from Allkpop or Eiffel in Seoul)
It's Dara's brother! (And he is just as cute :) I like to call this Spyro hair. You know, Spyro the Dragon. It's not even that similar but for some reason I always remember (somewhat inaccurately, I might add) Spyro's hair looking like a flame on his head so when I see someone with this hair; Spyro hair. I like it, and I like how Thunder's hair is long from the back along with the flame hair and the sideburns are also long but not in that odd colonial beard style.

(Pic from DailyMakeover)
This is a very adorable side braid and I like how the hair is left out in the front. Also, Zoe Saldana is beautiful. A friend and I were discussing this earlier in reference to the reasons why we want to watch Colombiana. Also I like how her hair color seems to range from soft black to dark brown though it's obviously the light.

(Pic from Allkpop)
I would love to do this color but I think it would never stop looking like I'm wearing a wig. I also like her cut. I suppose I would look kind of like Storm... which is awesome :D

(Pic from Allkpop?)
LOVE LOVE LOVE this hairstyle. And again, it's really pretty how her roots are showing. I have a clear Dara bias and with good reason.

(Pic from Eiffel in Seoul)
Her hair is teal. Do I need to say more?

(Pic from Eiffel in Seoul)
A non gelled style. I love the volume and messiness of the crown hair. I think hair parted at the crown is very flattering in general.

(Pic from Kstyle or Allkpop)
I really like how Yubin has a little blonde underneath. It looks very nice with her almost mahogany hair. Sohee's hair on the other hand is another example of all the different ways you can wear a half up half down hair style.

(Pic from Allkpop)
I'm a big fan of Taeyang's hair. He doesn't switch it up much, it's usually shaved on the sides but it's always incredibly smooth (a word that describes Taeyang like it does no other). I like how it's slicked up kind of like flames. As for Daesung, this has to be his best haircut ever in life. I think it suits him incredibly well. More proof that bangs make all the difference. Though he looks kind of like Se7en here haha. That is definitely a plus ;P.

(Pic from somewhere...)
The somewhat textured, full, hint of wavy hair looks very good on Minwoo. I'm a big fan of this hair in general. I'm sure it's not too difficult to achieve with a blowdryer and some product. Though I never expected it, this hair color also suits him very well.
